Sur les ruines de Babylone
على أطلال بابل

The project
Sur les ruines de Babylone revisits the making of the Tunisian documentary Babylon, directed in 2012 by ismaël, Youssef Chebbi and Ala Eddine Slim. A film about making a film, a shared experience, and what remains of it.
The project starts from the traces of that experience: images, archives, testimonies and memories of the work. It considers filming, editing and sound, and the passage from a historical event into cinema.
Babylon, the original film
At the Tunisian-Libyan border during the 2011 war in Libya, a camp takes shape. People from different countries wait and organise a temporary life. Babylon observes this territory, its gestures and its languages without explanatory narration or continuous translation.
